Description
Differential Diagnosis:
1. Sciatica: chosen due to subjective data and physical exam findings.
2. Muscle strain: chosen due to subjective information and reports of increased physical
activity prior to the visit to the clinic.
3. Spinal stenosis- chosen based on subjective information provided. Physical examination
ruled out spinal stenosis due to alleviating and aggravating factors and absence of
neurogenic claudication.
4. Spinal disk herniation: This can cause low back pain that radiates down the buttock to
below the knee. Patient in this case study did not have pain below the knee.
5. Spondylolisthesis: chosen due to subjective information of pain to legs and buttocks.
Ruled out by pain being relieved with standing and worse with sitting
