Description

* To be completed throughout course and submitted in Week 8* α-Amino-3-hydroxy-5- methyl-4- isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA)-type glutamate receptors (AMPA Rs) mediate the majority of fast excitatory synaptic transmission in the brain. AMPA receptors are abundant and widely distributed in the central nervous system. Hippocampus, outer layer of the cortex, basal ganglia, olfactory regions, lateral septum, and amygdala of the CNS are all enriched with GluA1, GluA2, and GluA3 subunits.
